To celebrate this as well as Spring Break we’re having a Kick-Off. Come join us for games, short performance tutorials, and delicious food! Meet us this Thursday at 7PM on Dwinelle Plaza to unwind post-midterms!

In addition to all of that, our Lion Dance Team will have a special performance, and you’ll be able to purchase Culture Show 2013: VERTIGO tickets in person!

You’ll learn about CORE, the leadership and planning committee behind the show, and about how to participate as a performer.

CORE Applications are due Monday, October 22 at 11:59pm, so come find out what Culture Show is all about before you apply!

We will show you what we do through workshops that highlight the different aspects of Culture Show: Production, Public Relations, Story, Design, Music, Technical, and Performances, and how these aspects interconnect and rely on each other to produce our annual Culture Show.

It is only in Cal VSA that there are people who can do this, who can open their arms to each other, and then in the same way open their arms to welcome others. This ‘we,’ we’re friends, family… community.

As this year’s Cal VSA Culture Chair, and as Culture Show 2013 Producer, I want to provide the same opportunity for others, for you. Of course it won’t be the same, since we are a different group, but we can be just as great, if not more.

Operation Babylift is an event that is important to both Vietnamese history and adoption history. In 1975 over 3000 infants and children were airlifted from Vietnam and adopted by families around the world over a course of a few short weeks. These children were the bụi đời, or the dust of life, of war-torn Vietnam and had been cast aside into impoverished orphanages. They were offered new lives, and so their stories continue today.

These awards are open to all collegiate Vietnamese Student Associations, Vietnamese Student Unions, and/or Vietnamese student groups in North America (U.S. and Canada). This is the second year they are being held to celebrate the achievements and contributions of VSAs like us from across the continent.

Outstanding Cultural Program/Event Award winners will receive $150 in addition to being recognized at the UNAVSA-9 Conference, featured on UNAVSA’s website and annual report, and highlighted in the UNAVSA-10 Conference program.

Jennifer here, and Andre too (again)! We hope that you’re all having a great summer. We sure are, kind of. :/ (We would have even better summers if there were more applications to read *hint hint*.) Jennifer is trying to survive the dry heat while planning a lot of stuff, and Andre is enjoying the few precious days of freedom he has left until summer sessions start for him.

We’ve previously introduced Jennifer as your new CS Producer, but this is an official announcement regarding the entire Production Team. You may already know Andre as your Web Administrator, but everyone, please welcome him as your Assistant Producer! Rather than being just names that write at you, we’d like to be people with faces and stories, so here’s some interesting information about us that usually would probably be left unmentioned.

Wait! Before we get to that, please remember that Story Proposals are due Friday, June 22 (that’s in a little over a week), and that CORE Applications are due Friday, June 29.
